Arangetrum Journey

Shonchori Mukherjee performed her Arangetrum in 2018 which was a roaring success. An arangetram marks so many things for an artist: the culmination of a formal education, the beginning of a professional journey, and the transition from practice to performance. It ushers the artist into a novel space to explore oneself .

This Arangetrum has triggered a period of significant transformation for Shonchori. A day that celebrated years of her passion for dance. A reflection of her hard work, tears and laughs, sweat, and dedication she has towards this art form.

Preparing for her arangetram helped her embrace her Indian culture not only by understanding the religious epics recited from generation to generation but also by listening to the music and wearing the intricate dresses, transforming herself into different deities. Learning Bharatanatyam from a young age was one of the best passions she has ever developed thanks to her parents and her dance teachers.
